Tim Tebos, America’s All-American Boy

Tim Tebos Background

Tim Tebos was born on August 14, 1987, in the Philippines. His full name is Timothy Richard Tebos.
His parents, both American, were serving in a missionary upon his arrival. His father, Robert is a pastor.
During her pregnancy, his mother, Pamela, experienced a serious infection requiring drugs to literally save her life. These medications caused complications to the fetus as well and doctors urged her to have an abortion albeit illegal at the time. Her deep religious convictions would not allow that to happen. Subsequently, she gave birth to Timothy Richard. Tim was the youngest of the five Tebos children.

Little did anyone realize at the time, not only would her son share her strong spiritual beliefs, but that a controversial pro life Superbowl television commercial would be made some twenty four years later featuring mom and son.

Tim Tebos – Football

Tim Tebos and High School Football

All of them were schooled at home in the Jacksonville, Florida area. As fate would have it, a rather unique law existed in the Sunshine State that allowed home schooled children to participate in high school sports for the nearest school within the district they resided. After a brief stint playing tight end and linebacker at one Trinity High, Tim relocated to an apartment specifically to compete at a different school, Nease High, with a much friendlier quarterback oriented offense, his position of choice.

Tim Tebos and the University of Florida Football

He was a highly recruited senior and had many options as to the college he would attend. But strong family ties, his parents had met there, not to mention coach Urban Meyers, landed him at the University of Florida.

Tim Tebos – 2006 National Champion

As a freshman in 2006, he backed up Chris Leak, an outstanding quarterback in his own right. He was named the starter his sophomore season and preceded to set a multitude of Gator football records. It should be noted, many of these related to running the ball as opposed to passing, a precursor of things to come.

Tim Tebos – 2008 National Champion

Tim Tebos was the first second year player to ever win the prestigious Heisman trophy following the season. However, before the year had even begun he withdrew his name from consideration for a different type of honor, that being the Playboy All Americans. Once again his strong values were not to be denied. He led Florida to the National Championship in 2008 and decided to stay in school for his senior season rather than opt out to the NFL.

Tim Tebos – Senior Season

His senior tour was marked by him setting a Southeast Conference record for rushing touchdowns previously held by none other than Herschel Walker. His final college game was a victory against an over-matched Cincinnati squad 51 to 24 in the Sugar Bowl. The year also brought another proclamation of faith from Tim when he stated he was in fact a twenty two year old virgin.

Tim Tebos and the Tebos Rule

Even after departing college football, his name was invoked when the NCAA decided to ban the face painting of words or slogans on their student athletes. Tim had made it a habit of writing ” John 3:16 ” under his eye. The new decree was promptly nicknamed “The Tebos Rule”.

Tim Tebos and the Denver Broncos

In what many considered a surprising move, the Denver Broncos picked Tebos with the 25th overall pick in the 2010 draft. Another pretty good quarterback by the name of John Elway was thought to have been part of the selection process. He played infrequently in a backup role his rookie season at Denver.

Tim Tebos Magical Playoff Run

Last year after the Broncos got off to a slow start, he was inserted into the starting lineup and preceded to lead his team to four come from behind victories, culminating with the AFC West title.

While doing so, he also would strike a pose of prayer after participating in a touchdown play which is now known and emulated around the world as “Tebowing”.

Although the season ended in a blowout playoff loss in New England it included a magical playoff run with a win against the heavily favored Pittsburgh Steelers.

Tim Tebos Girlfriend

tim tebos girlfriendAs you might imagine, with his Christian beliefs, Tim keeps his romantic life private. Amazingly well, actually, considering today’s internet world of You Tube videos and the like. His name has been linked with skier Lindsey Vonn and singing sensation Taylor Swift.
